JacobRolf Jacob Sartorius, a boy who was born in Oklahoma was brought up in Tulsa. His parents weren't able to take care of him right away after his birth and so he had to be adopted , and then moved to Virginia. Adoptive parents raised him at Reston, Virginia. He began performing in musicals at the age of seven. Before the closure of Vine, an American short-form hosting site for video in 2017, Sartorius lip-syncing videos posted through the site gained more than eight million followers up to August 2016. Being a victim of bullying, he believed social media could provide him with an alternative to being bullied. He said that he was not an outgoing, outgoing person prior to Musical.ly. He believed that everyone was watching him , except for the camera.
